Hey!

Youre probably wondering why i havent emailing yet.
Yesterday was a national holiday so all the librarys
were closed and we couldnt find a members house to go
to so we had to go today. This will have to be short
because i accidentely forgot my library card and had
to wait for my comp to finish so now i only have a few
min. Sounds like the ice skating was awesome! Hope you
had a blast! We had a baptism on sat. night and confirmed
her sunday. It was the 9 yr old girl denise. And her uncle
that we've been teaching has a testimony of the Book of
Mormon and wants to be baptized. We dont have a date with
him but we are hoping for the 30th. And when her mom and
little sis come this week to church they will count as 2
reactivations! Unfortunately our other solid bap date
moved to Tenessee. We havent been able to play soccer yet
cause people have had to work and the ball i bought a
while back popped when i was in live oak cause it hit a
barbed wire fence! It was nice too! But we played volleyball
at the church instead. Thanks for the package and my cleats!
It was awesome! I probably dont need my shin guards and socks
so i wouldnt worry about sending them. None of the other
missionaries have cleats anyways. Things are going better
with my comp and i. We've gotten along really well this
week. Him and another missionary in the apt, who i am actually
good friends with now, are just a bit immature and more
unnfocused but maybe its cause they are younger in the mission.
But they are good missionaries and we all have a good time.
My comp and i actually worked really hard this week. We have
been tracting at least 3-4 hours a day. though its a struggle
sometimes to find hispanics. Well i better get going. Thanks
again for the package and letters and emails! And thanks for
the letter Rachel! I will do my best to write you one this
week. And Aaron! I will try to send something for his birthday
this week but it may end up being late.Happy pre-Birthday Aaron!

1/10/10

Greetings! Everything is going great in the new place! I am really glad i am in a four man apartment. Its a lot more fun and exciting. It got a little boring sometimes in live oak, especially on pdays. We are going to play soccer every pday here! My new comp is Elder Baker from Utah, cant remember which town.... He seems pretty cool but im not really sure if he likes me or not. lol Hes a pretty big guy and we dont have too much in common but it should still be a sweet transfer. The apartment is pretty nice and it has a washer and dryer which is good. Elder Baker has been out for 2 transfers in the same area so i am follow-up training him. He already speaks very good spanish. He know a bunch of words already and knows most of the grammar but has a really bad gringo accent, not that mine is perfect either. I think he'll pick it up more with time. He's a pretty smart kid. From what i heard his trainer was pretty lazy so i gotta pick up the slack cause they didnt have any baptisms the last 2 transfers. My district leader asked me to be the example for everyone cause of laziness the last transfer so ill do my best. We actually already found someone to be baptized and another reactivated! We were tracting and found a lady from Guatemala named Marta who was baptized 10 years ago in california but hasnt been for a long time. She has a 9 year old girl named Denise who is going to be baptized this saturday and the mom wants to start taking her to church. I guess her sister is a member in georgia and used to take the girl to church a lot. Denise showed us her primary cd that had called to serve, i am a child of god, i love to see the temple, etc. She knew all the words! Her and the other 7 year old girl are excited to come to church! They are the cutest girls ever! She also has a brother that lives there who is interested as well so hopefully he will come too. Besides them we havent had much other success tracting. We had a mini-mission with the youth on sat. We met at the church at 7:00 am and the branch pres and mission leader cooked us and the youth breakfast. They we all did our studies together and then they did a couple classes on how to prepare for a mission. Then they showed everyone how to make a cheap meal, clam chouder. Then each companionship took a youth and they spent the day with us teaching lessons and tracting. It was a really good experience for them! One of them is from Guatemala and just turned 19. He was baptized last May and really wants to serve a mission as soon as he can which is in May. He is the only member of his family that lives in the states and who is a member which im sure must be hard. Well arent you spoiled mom?! Sounds like an awesome date! Championship ice skating. Skiing sounds fun too!! Oh i have a couple questions: First can you send me my soccer cleats? They are gray and black Nike's. (not the old ones that are torn on the toe) We will be playing soccer outside a lot here and all the hispanics use cleats. If my little gold and white shin guards and a pair of soccer socks fit that would be sweet too. Thanks! Also i think my vision is getting worse. Im may need another eye exam soon. I feel like things are a lot more blurry and its harder to focus on things. Im not sure yet though. Well thats about everything new. Hope you all have a great week! Oh and tell doug thanks for the package and email! I am out of time emailing but will be mailing a thank you letter tomorrow.

Buenos dias! Sounds like everyone had a great week of skiing! We had a pretty good week here too. Good job on the missionary work! You should ask when the missionaries will be there next and then invite her over for a dinner and to listen to the missionaries! I challenge you to do that this week or next. Only 1/1000 people who hear our message from tracting are baptized and 2/3 are baptized when a member invites someone over to hear the dicussions. Those are insane statistics! Keep it up! Oh transfers are this week and im getting transferred! I will be going right back where i came from, the San Jose Branch in jacksonville! Now they have 2 companionships there so i will actually be in a different apartment this time which is good cause the other one is horrible! I will also be senior companion. I havent met him yet but i found out his name is Elder Baker and he's been out for 3 months now. I had a feeling i would be leaving here. Ill miss the country felling but im excited for the city again too. Its a lot faster paced because theres so many more people to talk too and a lot of apartments to tract. Today we are going to go play indoor soccer with the district in lake city which should be fun and then we have a spaghetti dinner at an older ladys house. Oh and we have are new goals for the year! 3050!!! Its split into 2 parts: 1300 baptisms and 1750 reactivations of less- or inactive members. Everyone is really excited about the mission goal but we've focused on only baptisms for so long that noones really sure how to reactivate! i go to my new area on wed. and then we have another mission conference on thurs. to talk about the new goals. Our zone leaders also had us come up with our own personal goals for the year. I prayed about it and came up with 110: 50 baptisms and 60 reactivations. I promised the Lord i would reach it so i better get workin! As far as school goes i am more and more unsure about what kind of pilot i want to be and what to do about school. I was on a tradeoff with a zone leader whos brother is in the air force academy and loves it. It really got me thinking about considering that option or maybe some other options. There are ups and downs to both ways i guess. Im not sure i want to be in the military but it just seems a lot more exciting but its also extremely competative so i dont know. I may start researching some other options out. But i think i still have some time. Have you applied for any scholarships yet? I really need to start applying for some soon. Anyways, thanks for the letter mom and the email dad! Report to me on your missionary work progress this week! Hope everyone has a great week. Have fun your last semester of high school rachel cause youll miss it when youre done!
