Hey! You're welcome for the tie! Sounds like camping was fun! Man i wish i could go! It rained here for half the week again and is sunny now. And way too hot! Its crazy how fast time is flying! Transfers are in a week and a half. I found out at my last President Interview that im most likely getting transferred. He is going to send in 2 new people. Elder Brunt goes home on June 10! Ill probably go with another companionship for a few days when he goes before the end of the transfer. Tell everyone if they are mailing something to do it by this week. I am doing great here! Im starting to feel better and better about Josh. Last week when i was struggling one night and praying, though i couldnt see him, I felt that Josh was kneeling right next to me so we both prayed together as missionaries of the Lord. It was a very spiritual experience. Its the closest ive felt to him in a long time. Well John's living situation is going quite as planned so hopefully he will be baptized tomorrow. Can everyone pray for him? Thanks. He really wants to be baptized but needs to move out of his apartment and isnt sure where to go. He'll definitely be baptized though. We also have one next Sunday! A black guy named Ken who we met at the food court on campus. He knows the bible extremely well and knows the Book of Mormon is true. I have seen so many miracles its incredible. We have another baptism scheduled for the 14th but i wont be here then. A few others are very close to receiving their answer as they pray and being baptized. I dont think i have any of those symptoms of what Josh had. I feel like i dont have the energy i used to though. I am tired a lot and am struggling with waking up again. Im not sure what to do about it but half the time i dont even hear the alarm which is pretty loud. Maybe the heat is making me so tired. Anyways, i am enjoying my time here and loving being on campus. I am going to be sad to leave the area but im excited to see somewhere new and learn how a normal mission area works. When am i supposed to see the doctor about my hip again? It seems to be doing fine but it still doesnt have full mobility and im still taking tylenol every other day. I had to spend some of my money from home last week cause i ran out. Today i need to buy contacts cause i only have one pair left. Ill just use my card from home. Can you reimburse me? Ill probably only get one box cause my eye exam is due in August and that should last me till then. Tell Grandma and grandpa thanks for the card! I appreciate all their prayers and love and support. Tell everyone at home i said hi! Hows Jason doing? I need to write him again. Whats his email address? Its probably on facebook. Hope your week is awesome! Hang in there and pray for strength and you can get through anything. Love you all!

Hey! Sorry i didnt email yesterday. I guess you guys may not get it till tomorrow anyway if youre camping. Sounds like a blast! Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I am doing my best to stay motivated but it can be hard sometimes. We worked pretty hard this week even with all the rain. It has literally rained 24/7 for a week straight. We get soaked every day! Its finally clearing up. We have seen incredible miracles this week! We fasted last sunday for a miracle and the next day we decided to tract the building next to ours and we found John. I only have 2 min left before the library closes! Long story short, he is getting baptized next Sunday! You wouldnt think from first glance with all black baggy clothes and piercing and tattoos but he truly is prepared by the Lord. Another baptism on June 14! Gotta run! I love you all and have fun camping!

Letter from Elder Carty - 5/16/09
Hey! Hows the temple? I wish i could go to the temple! How was swimming in the hotel? I got your letter mom. Thanks! This week has been pretty good. Nothing to complain about. We keep finding a ton of new investigators but none of them are very solid. We just dropped one of them because he is too hardhearted to pray. We were pretty bold with him but he couldnt seem to humble himself enough to ask God so we had to drop him. When we taught him earlier this week we watched the restoration video with him and i prayed all throughout that the Spirit would testify to me that it was true so i could testify more powerfully to him. The Spirit touched my heart and when i was bearing my testimony to him I felt the Spirit fill the room. He said he felt the peace from everything but was still denying it. Sometimes it happens though i guess. We havent had member referrals for a long time. We lost several students for the summer and they have all been slacking off on missionary work. We're trying to figure out how to get them going again. Bit is Daniel Johansen's sister who is graduating from high school. She started going to institute now. I am gonna try to buy some sunglasses today and some shirt stays because i lost one. Im out of money so i have to use my debit card. I should have enough food for the month though. Oh did i ever tell you about shirt-stays and tie-buddies? Shirt-stays are these elastic things that clip from your sock to the side of your shirt and keep you socks up and you shirt tucked in! We make tie buddies from old shirts other missionaries left in the closet. You cut a section of the button holes with 2 holes and then put it on the outside of the buttons on your shirt through the loop in the back of the tie. It keeps your tie from flying in the wind. Aaron,Hows basketball going? Do you like having a hoop at home? What kind of tricks can you do on the trampoline? Are you excited to go rafting? You should raft all the way to Florida and pick me up! I miss you a lot! It was fun to talk to you last week. I cant wait till next Christmas so I can talk to you again! Caleb,How do you like preschool? What are you learning about this week? Can you make a basket in the hoop? Guess what? We might go to a baseball game today! Rachel,What have you been doing lately with your friends? Have you been learning kick boxing? When do i get another letter? It was really good to talk to you last week. Keep up the scripture reading! The Book of Mormon is amazing. Try really studying and marking it instead of just reading. For me it brought a real thirst for the scriptures as soon as i dove into them. Now i cant get enough! Hope everything is going well in life! Love ya! Mom, sounds like your relief society day was fun! All those things make you realize just how bad the world is going to get right before the second coming and that we really need to be prepared. Thanks for the inspiring words. I actually read D&C 138 this week. I finished D&C for the first time! It was really good. Letter from Elder Carty - 5/9/09
Hello! I cant wait to call home tomorrow! I didnt even realize until today that im calling home tomorrow. Ill probably call home around 7:00 my time so thats 5:00 your time? Plan on a little before or after just in case. The garden sounds cool. What are you going to grow in it? Thanks for paying my tithing!!!My new companion is awesome! I have had really good companions so far. I wish i could have stayed with each one of them longer. His name is Elder Brunt and hes from Vancouver, WA. Hes actually really good at ping pong too! We're about the same. This week at night has been harder for me. I think everythings finally sinking in. We have worked really hard this week though which is good. Campus is slow because school is out but summer semester starts on monday. Whenever we see someone we walk really fast to try to catch them. We've been doing a lot of tracting too but there are a lot of empty doors.Sorry about the short email last week. It was a computer for students that you had to stand up at and it shut out of whatever you were in after 5 min. It took me 3 tries to send it. lol. We met a girl this week who is 30 and she agreed to baptism! Also this guy we met who works at this Asian restaurant on campus is really excited to hear our message. Ill tell you a little more about him tomorrow. Oh we're going to Cirque de Soleil today at 3:30! I think they have a bunch of different shows. This one's called Saltimbanco i think. Its supposed to be their largest and longest arena show. Its at the basketball dome on campus. You guys saw it didnt you? Which show was it? What else have you been up to Aaron? I miss you and Caleb A LOT!!! I cant wait to talk to you tomorrow! Ill tell you all about the circus show im going to today. You'll have to tell me all about the circus you went to for Caleb's birthday. What did you plant in the garden? Its been really really hot and humid here! Its been up to 95 degrees and its only May!I ran for the second time since my surgery and my calves and hip are really sore. I didnt run far but im gonna start running every other day so it can get stronger. We are at Charlenes place today with a few other people to do laundry and email. We played a long game of monopoly.Hope you guys all have an awesome weekend! Oh tell Doug thanks for the card! Thats really cool that he his having a special stone cut for Josh.
